I went to the workshop and I already posted 2 drawings the other night but I'll post this one too. This was another Dr. Sketchies contest piece, Valentines day themed. The innuendo is fairly naughty considering I had been at such a bad angle because of my lateness.

And no I'm not talking about the Elderly, or old vehicles, or old songs, or old anything, except some few year old drawings. Early 2009 I did these drawings in this sketchbook that I started late in 2008. I had lost the sketchbook for a long time and forgotten I had done a bunch of tree drawings.

Lastly there's this funny illustration I drew upon request from a friend who wanted to test me and see if I was any good at illustrating. Turtle eats bird:

I've been wishing to post more but I haven't had a lot of great work to post. I just went to another Dr. Sketchies Workshop, where the drawings weren't nearly as bad as the last time I went to a workshop. I've been dying to go to CATALYST for their workshops but I heard they're very quiet. I'll still check it out.

So I lost my doodle blob book that I had all these cool drawings of cars and food and things inside of it. I think I may have accidentally left it at the Art Institute campus when I was there for god-knows-what. In any case I am not allowed back on campus to pick it up because I don't have an id card there.
So I restarted doing drawings of food porn again today. I'll try and post more often. Sadly I think I only managed to get in 5 posts last month, which is pretty sad.

So I drew this woman in Illustrator and then threw the illustrator drawing in photoshop, used some gradients and messed around with filters and layer styles.... Voila c'est ca.

Came out fairly okay considering I didn't use a wacom tablet.

Well unfortunately last night at the Dr. Sketchy's my drawings didn't come out that great except for maybe one. I was out of it. The Ontario Art Walk on Saturday went fairly well though, even though I messed up my main 4 paintings and I had to scratch them from the bunch. I wont be going to the next one, but I will be going to the one in May.

I am already stressed out because I am trying to unsuccessfully fix some paintings I messed up.
I am going to post photos of my work after the show is over, and I have another workshop I plan on attending this Sunday. I'm not sure if I'll be able to update with new work - so just in case - here are some more old drawings from 2007 and 2008 that I took down from blogger in 2008:

To ease my following rant I will post some older art work from a blog I had on blogger but I took it down in 2007 or 2008. These drawings were done in 2007 at Gnomons, when I took a couple of classes there.

So...
New Years resolution?
This is all mostly a re-post from an early in the year post from last year.

Below I have listed some of the important resolutions from last year that I am reinstating this year:

Draw daily
Paint daily (digitally or otherwise if possible)
Write daily
Update blog daily (or as daily as I possibly can, I don't have a computer at home anymore)
Finish 10 animations (then +10 once they're done)
Finish 10 paintings (I pretty much already completed this...so +10 more until the year is up)
Brush up on my french (!!!)
Exercise daily (swim daily?)
Finish 10 digital paintings (+10 more +10 more in one month and then continue)
Finish what I start (!)
Do a mini comic
Start an Online comic (something temporary and fun)
Time manage better, and keep logs (I am terrible at this, but I try)
Finish my personal project(s) (and then pitch my proposals)
Quit soda (This is an addition)
Read 20 books (then +10 when I finish)

I'm still studying Industrial Design on the side, but things are very much in the air with me. I would love to go back to Art Center and finish what I started, but I don't know if I can. I would very much like to go to Gnomons, but it's much more expensive of a school.

Things I have always wanted to do: (again)

Maintain an alias for my freelancing (since my real name is extremely common and I hate it).
Start an online comic and make comics consistently on the internet as a webcomic artist.

^This is mainly a non-serious "For Fun" thing that is temporary.

Create animated content on Youtube. (I have been dreaming about this for years but computer issues and personal issues f**k me up...I still want to do this though)
Indy publish fun stuff that I have been playing around with in notebooks and sketchbooks. (YES!)
Also maintain my real name and myself as myself for my more serious work.
~~Post regularly on ConceptArt.org and Apedogs.com, as well as here and deviantart~~

I do want this too but it's not on my "Important" list anymore.

Finish school or at least continue to take some more classes to up my skills in the future

I think I will forever be doing this.

(I completed this resolution at the end of last year...and I will be completing it again in 3 days for this year.)
Make my blogs under my alias more serious, and produce content consistently, but also maintain consistent content under myself. (I've double posted this on accident)

^I keep restarting this...I want to make it a serious thing, as silly as that sounds.

Travel to Europe for a fairly significant period of time. I would PREFER up to 3-6 months and at least 1 month. Ultimately I would love to live there for a year or so, but with the way things are in my life right now, I don't know.
Get a steady income with what I love to do!

I am not even sure if this is possible, but I want it to be. I am happy to be freelancing the way I am now, but I make next to nothing if I make anything at all. It would be nice to pay off my debt at least.

So with all of this said or re-said, I want to put this back out to the universe again. I would also like to say that I would really like to do what I love for a living for the rest of my life. I love to create and make things and come up with ideas. So, Universe!!!! Help me out. I don't want to be famous or rich or a gorgeous slut, or a powerful leader....I just want to be a creative who makes things because I am miserable doing anything else. I could live with myself if I had to sacrifice other things and then have that instead. That's the only thing that completes me. I'll still keep working towards it anyways.

30 Day Challenge: Favorite Book.

My current favorite book is American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I did this faux-cover in a short time period and it was supposed to be my Day 6, and I was supposed to post this on the 7th, but I got delayed. I skipped it the next day and did Gary Oldman which I forgot about until last night, and even then I didn't post it until today. I also started the bugs bunny one before I started this one. So this one is very late. I still have 4 more days to catch up on, that I'll try to do today and tomorrow.

30 Day Challenge: Favorite Actor. Favorite Cartoon.

I purposefully then accidentally skipped Favorite Book, and I am behind a few days because I got sidetracked this last week. So my favorite actor is Gary Oldman, and my favorite cartoon is Bugs Bunny. I did these two pieces a little differently than I did the others, but I still like how they turned out. I'm disappointed that I skipped one and fell behind. Day 6 was supposed to be Favorite Book, but instead it's going to be Gary.

I went to the Nerdgasm event at Dr. Sketchies Anaheim chapter at the Rothick Art Haus. The models were amazing as always and really fun, and pretty, of course. My muse was Krystal X Kaos. I am not 100% sure why but I can say that I loved her costume the most. I didn't really get a chance to draw the long pose model except for a small portrait, which was a shame because she had a great pose and a great outfit.

Well my favorite food always bounces around weekly or even as often as daily. Yesterday and today my favorite food was Ceviche. So I went to a workshop hosted by Jennifer Fabos yesterday. It was a little expensive because there were two models. I need to scan the larger drawings later, they're too big for a regular 9 by 12 scanner unfortunately. I might take pictures of them instead I'm still thinking about it.

In my small moleskin I did manage to do two fairly quick portraits of the models.

...My cartoonish characters always have a tendency to look emaciated. I did this cartoonish styled sketch of a woman today, and this is mostly my "comic" style. She looks emaciated. This is most interesting because I am the opposite of emaciated.

I was off my game today but I did do a few OK drawings. The theme was Dia de los Muertos, and the model was really great as usual at the Rothick Dr. Sketchies. I did a real inappropriate one which I threw away. I don't even think I could bring this one home, my family for sure will see it. My grandma, who I live with, will be nosy and get a hold of it, and it's not catholic friendly. Anyways I'll do the long one on November 5th, and I'm excited to go to that one. Enjoy my Dia lady.

At the moment I can't think of their names but I was considering doing a short line of portraits of some of these characters. The portraits will of course be odd and creepy the way I see people. I don't do them intentionally like this, they just sort of turn out that way because everything registers in my brain "creepy".

This was some album cover designs for my friend, I had to redo them because the originals got lost when my computer spazzed some weeks ago. He's a European musician and needed some techno/ambient/dance music cover and I did the top one then I played with filters and sort of liked how the bottom one came out. It's a cheap shot to use filters but I think it actually looks good in this case. I'll post the others soon.

I drew some dirt, because in all reality, and no artist/designer considers this but dirt is amazingly interesting. Most people just draw dots or don't even bother to look at dirt, but it's different in every area and in different weather and can be kind of interesting if you stop to look at it.

I just thought it would be funny to put my stuff in there and see if it sells, which obviously it hasn't since I don't advertise and I'm not well known. I kept seeing Cafe press adds pop up with my stuff on them so I'm thinking somehow the adds know that I am the person who owns that shop, it was kind of weird seeing those adds. Sorry for my weird portrait last post, I so want to take it down. I was in a strange mood and I kinda went crazy with the colors and totally ignored value and was being stupid. It was a fun picture to do. I was basing it off a guy I had seen at Stater brothers...a very poor portrait indeed.

Anyways I figured I was going to do a little more of a serious digital warm up today.
Princess of Austria, Elizabeth. I found her picture in the commons on flickr... and I figured I'd get my digital warm up chops ready. I really need to take a photoshop class...there's one this summer I'd like to get into.

My accuracy is so so but I sort of stopped being accurate a while ago, it's more fun to take creative license.

New Goals...possibly crazy goals... (long rant)

Ok so I realized I should actually jot down some things I've been thinking about, and things I'd like to happen. I'm throwing it out there in the nexus as a sort of prayer. I would like to achieve many things this year, because honestly my life is not where I'd like it to be. It's going to a scary place right now, and I'm not getting any younger.

And quite frankly I am a coward and for the first time in a long time I admitted to an acquaintance (not even a friend) that. I have been cowering for a while because I am a huge softy hippie coward, and you know what, that's just me. But I do have to find a way to work around that stupid hump so I can get more things done and achieve all of the things I want in life. I want to make that change today.

Today is a new day.

My new years resolutions that I listed on 43 things (and I also have a larger list for important things I want to accomplish in general) are not a part of the goal list I'm working out today on here, however, they are part of the larger scheme of things.

Below I have listed some of the important ones specifically from the resolution list for this year:

Draw daily
Paint daily
Write daily
Update blog daily
Finish 10 animations
Finish 10 paintings
Brush up on my french
Exercise daily
Finish 10 digital paintings - which I started and I got to 5, then stopped; hence next point
Finish what I start

Those are all part of the grand scheme of the other goals I have realized yesterday that I wanted to achieve with myself (mostly) and my career and this blog and my skills in general (that goes with myself too, I'm adding it twice for importance).

Another little bullet point I should add is about my deleting all my artwork and posts, and from now on that stuff stops. Unless I really hate what I did and I really really really feel it's inappropriate, I will, but otherwise if it hurts no one, I need to keep it up. No more "rage-quitting" my galleries and posts. They stay from now on!

So my new goals, things I have been wanting to do for quite some time, and I will list in a little bit. I still want to stay as a freelance illustrator, but I also have been studying on the side industrial design. I would like to go that way as my full time job in the future, because freelance is fairly sketchy, or it has been in my experience so far. I need a fall back, but I also want to stay freelance.

So this is my current prayer now, my chant and wish and hope, to the internet nexus and the universe in general. I really don't know what my niche is but I want to try this and see if it sticks, I've been thinking about it forever, playing with the idea, sort of setting it up here and there and now and again...now I want to make it serious.

These ones are not super recent but I figured I'd scan them anyway. The foot is way off on the guy but it's a quick sketch so I do the best I can with the time I'm given.

Lol I don't know why but i sketched these out in my doodle blob book the other day.
I have a weird sense of humor.
Also they're not really rejected children's book covers, they're just my ideas of children's books that probably would be rejected. Maybe it's not as funny since I posted it on facebook and people didn't quite get it. But these aren't real children's book pitches they're fake and they're weird doodles from out of my head no less. I thought they were kinda funny in a simplistic immature kind of way.

Maybe I should take these off of my fb...not sure yet.

This is a design I did for my prototyping class for a mobile. The parts will hang. I haven't quite figured out how they will hang, but they will hang. The black is just to define the parts I will be utilizing, and the whites are the throw away pieces. The pieces wont actually be black when they get cut out.

So this is another page from my doodle blob, it's a Victorian era Mexican/American saddle. It was at the Bowers museum along with lots of other interesting exhibits, especially the AMAZING 16th century Chinese wooden corbels.

They came out better than I expected.
One is a Coqui, the other is the Bee hummingbird.

In Chino California, this was a nazi aircraft. I didn't particularly want to do this specific one, but it was in a good view of a bench I decided to rest on. I'm very lazy in that way. If there is a seat I'll draw whatever is in the best view of the seat that I can sit on.
I guess I could stand... but I was too lazy this day.
On another note I was a little shocked that the Nazis came up with so many aircraft. I guess you learn something new everyday.Another little goal for me today before I sleep: Draw something from stock photography either off of deviant art, or my favorite...flickr.

I fell behind on my daily DA's. So I am trying to catch up today, as well as catch up on some of my (sort of) free lance work.

This was my most recent post. I posted two other drawings today. Both of them are a little older than I'd like them to be, but one I played with and made into an illustration today.

I need to post three more to be on top of my daily DA's. That's my goal for at least a year.

I wonder if I can also try and do a forum post at concept art.org I'd really like to.
